Kave sneakers are made from waste and leftover materials locally in the Zlín factory, on Baťa machines from the first half of the last century with the use of existing equipment only.
We want to show big brands that there is a way to make products in a sustainable way by creating an intelligent, functional and responsible design.
Our world is filled with products that we do not need, but still produce. This causes problems in society and nature. Most products for our consumption are manufactured in Asian countries and then transported to Europe. These senseless transports of raw materials and products severely pollute our environment.
Starting a new production requires a lot of energy, the production of shoe lasts, cutting knives or the development of new materials. In the world, we have a large number of fully equipped factories with large archives of shoe lasts, cutting knives or materials that allow us to produce sneakers with minimal environmental impact. So why produce more and more equipment?
The brand was founded in 2015 by designer Eva Klabalová after working for large brands from Europe and America where trips to Asia became routine for her. Her journey was long. Eva has been designing footwear since she was fifteen years old. She learned everything about the production of shoes when she worked for one of the companies operating in the Baťa’s factory grounds during her studies. Later when Eva began to travel around the world and work in the footwear industry, she realised, thanks to her experience in production, that there is a gap between meaningless global movements of goods and forgotten local production possibilities. She decided to change that.
Working for companies that produce shoes at the cost of tens of thousands has stopped making sense to her. The final straw was when she walked out on the balcony in the morning and due to the thick smog and pollution, she could not see the building on the other side of the road. She realised she didn’t want to be part of this crazy industry. She wanted to start doing everything differently. Meaningfully, sustainably and especially with regard to our environment. She returned to Czech Republic, to Zlín, where she was born. She returned to the factory where she worked as a part-time worker during her studies. This time no longer as an employee, but as the creative director of the KAVE brand. Today, Eva combines design and technology to create sustainable, quality footwear and is globally changing the view of its production. Despite a number of global successes, she has not forgotten her native Czechia, through her talent and enthusiasm she shows large and small companies, factories and corporations that the shoemaking craft can be done differently – better, more consciously, with maximum effort for sustainability and consideration for the planet.

Thanks to special production technology, each Kave model is completely original. Once sold out, it is never made the same. Each pair has its own unique serial number, each shoe has its own unique color combination. This is how unique products are created in limited collections and with a minimal ecological footprint.
We only use leftovers and recycled materials for our production.
We produce Kave in the Zlín factory, on Baťa machines, from leftover materials.
Send us your worn Kave sneakers, we will recycle them and make new sneakers from them.
We collaborate on projects that aim to help where needed.
