We are very grateful to have become the second best startup of last year in the Creative Business Cup competition. The jury appreciated our ecological sneakers, made from residual materials and a sole made from coffee grounds ☕️ We use existing equipment and Baťa machines from the last century to manufacture sneakers. The first place was won by the startup Readmio with a mobile application that accompanies the reading of fairy tales with a sound underscore, played automatically based on the recognition of read words. On third place were Leitners Watch connecting traditional watchmaking with modern technologies.
The fourth annual national final of the global Creative Business Cup competition was held online on March 30, 2021 at the Tomáš Baťa Memorial in Zlín. Zlín was not chosen by chance, the Zlín Creative Cluster (a set of regionally interconnected entrepreneurs and associated institutions and organizations) was created as the first cluster in the Czech Republic focused on creative industries. MEP Martina Dlabajová, who has long focused on the issue of creative industries, also stood at its birth.
KAVE Footwear founder Eva Klabalová told Zlínský Deník after the announcement: “We want to show big brands that there is a way to produce products in a sustainable way by creating intelligent, functional and responsible design. We are constantly looking for more partners, companies that share our mission, so we welcomed the opportunity to present our project as part of the Creative Business Cup.”
